Denture Relines
Professional denture relining to restore the fit, comfort, and stability of your existing dentures for a secure and confident feel.
Denture Relines
Over time, your gums and jawbone naturally change shape, which can cause dentures that once fit perfectly to become loose and uncomfortable. A denture reline refreshes the fitting surface of your existing denture, restoring a snug, secure fit without the need for a completely new set.
Signs You May Need a Reline
- Your dentures feel loose or shift when you eat or speak
- You are using increasing amounts of adhesive to keep them in place
- Food particles are getting trapped under your dentures
- Your gums feel sore or irritated after wearing your dentures
- It has been more than two years since your last reline
Types of Relines
Soft Relines A soft reline uses a pliable, cushion-like material on the fitting surface of your denture. This is ideal for patients with sensitive gums or those who experience discomfort from hard acrylic. Soft relines provide excellent comfort and are often recommended for patients with thin or receding gum tissue.
Hard Relines A hard reline uses a more rigid acrylic material that closely matches the original denture base. This provides a very precise, long-lasting fit and is the most common type of reline for standard full dentures.
The Reline Process
The reline process is straightforward and typically completed within a day or two. During your appointment, we take a new impression inside your existing denture to capture your current gum shape. The denture is then processed in our on-site laboratory with the new reline material.
Because we have an on-site lab, we can often complete relines faster than clinics that outsource laboratory work. This means less time without your dentures.
After a Reline
You may notice a slight difference in bite or speech for the first day or two as your mouth adjusts to the new fitting surface. This is completely normal and usually resolves quickly. We include a follow-up adjustment to ensure everything feels right.
